FELLOWSHIPS

CAARI offers an active fellowship program. Fellowship opportunities include both CAARI-sponsored fellowships and fellowships sponsored by others, such as Fulbright research fellowships, CAORC multi-country fellowships, and Kress Foundation fellowships in Art History. The CAARI Director provides guidance to fellows on matters related to their research and on facilities available at CAARI and in Cyprus, and facilitates contacts with relevant local authorities and scholars. In addition to their research work, fellows are asked to give a lecture on their work and participate in roundtable discussions, and may be featured speakers at CAARI symposia.

The purpose of the fellowship is to help cover travel to and living expenses in Cyprus. Applications for 2011 are invited especially from students of Hellenistic and Roman Cyprus. While in Nicosia, Cyprus, the fellow will reside at CAARI.

While in Nicosia, Cyprus, the fellow will reside at CAARI. During this residence, the fellow is expected to give a presentation at CAARI on a subject related to his or her research. The fellow will acknowledge CAARI and the Danielle Parks Memorial Fellowship in any publication that emerges from the research carried during the fellowship.

THE HELENA WYLDE SWINY AND STUART SWINY FELLOWSHIP: Not offered 2012. One grant of US $1,000 to a graduate student of any nationality in a college or university in the U.S. or Canada to pursue a research project that is relevant to an ongoing field project in Cyprus or that requires work on Cyprus itself; to be used to fund research time in residence at CAARI and to help defray costs of travel. Residence at CAARI is required.

THE ANITA CECIL O'DONOVAN FELLOWSHIP:

CAARI RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS:

Particular consideration will be given to applicants whose projects will enable them to include Cyprus in their teaching. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Recipients will receive US $5500 toward transport, living expenses, and lodging at CAARI (required), and an additional US $250 for research expenses on the island. They will present a public lecture or workshop on their research at CAARI during their residency, file a report on their project at its conclusion, and acknowledge CAARI in publications resulting from research done there.
